This 8-hour course teaches participants how to recognize and assess an emergency situation, how to administer basic first aid, when and how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and when and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Course Description:
This 8-hour course teaches participants how to recognize and assess an emergency situation, how to administer basic first aid, when and how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and when and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

The primary purpose of this course is to equip participants with the knowledge required to properly sustain the life of an injured person until professional medical help can be provided. Students will learn about common emergency situations and how the application of first aid procedures and CPR techniques can increase a victim’s chances of surviving a health-related trauma. Course contents include how to:

• Recognize and evaluate a medical emergency
• Provide first aid in cases of illness, bleeding, burn, shock, stroke, seizure, or other injury
• Apply CPR techniques to breathing and cardiac emergencies
• Use an AED properly and in a timely manner
• Protect oneself and others from disease transmission
• Manage an emergency situation until professional medical help arrives

Course participants will receive an NES certificate of completion and an Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI) first aid, CPR, and AED certification card.

Classes for this course are limited to 12 participants.
