NES Returns to California CUPA Conference

NES is returning as a contributor and sponsor of the 2019 California CUPA Conference. Under the theme of “One Team, One Goal,” this year will mark the 21st anniversary of the Cal CUPA Conference, and NES is honored to be back.

The conference will be held at the Anaheim Marriott from February 25 – 28, 2019. The Anaheim Marriott will be serving as the main hotel for the event, and those interested in attending are encouraged to book through the event’s hotel registration link. The Courtyard Anaheim Resort/Convention Center has been set as the event’s overflow hotel. Additional venue information can be found here.

NES President and CEO Jerry Bucklin will be returning to the CUPA Conference and will be conducting training seminars and presentations during the four-day event. Information on Mr. Bucklin’s presentations, including times and descriptions, can be found in the following section.

 

2019 Cal CUPA Conference: “One Team, One Goal”

Description:

This presentation will cover the most common violations issued by CUPA inspectors in 2017-2018 and compliance requirements associated with those common violations. Programs of interest will include Hazardous Materials Business Plans, hazardous waste generators, aboveground and underground storage tanks, and the California Accidental Release Prevention Program.

Description:

This program will allow participants to ask questions to a panel of contributors regarding the CUPA programs, authority, trends, and interpretations. The Q&A program will also be attended by several California state agencies, such as the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), the California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES).

 

BASICS OF HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT (Session Code Th-J3)

Presenters:

Description:

This introductory program will provide hazardous waste generators an overview of California’s hazardous waste regulations. In addition to an explanation of inspections and enforcement of regulations, the program will also cover determining generator status (LQG, SQG, or VSQG), RCRA vs. non-RCRA waste, container and tank management requirements, and an overview of the manifest system.
